Basic Welding Courses Scheduled at DSLCC

 
Clifton Forge, VA (July 18, 2018) - Two basic welding courses have been scheduled this fall by Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Workforce Solutions and Community Education on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus with Mike Bryant, DSLCC’s Welding Program head, as the instructor.

“Gas Metal Arc Welding” (GMAW) is a 40-hour course that includes both classroom instruction and hands-on lab training on one welding position, 1G flat groove. The tuition fee of $999 includes all instructional materials and qualification testing. The class will meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings, August 21 through November 27, from 6 to 10 pm, in Room 380, Scott Hall.

“Shielded Metal Arc Welding” (SMAW/Stick Welding) is a 75-hour course that provides classroom and hands-on training for three positions in SMAW/Stick Welding with tests for D1.1 American Welding Society 1, 2 and 3G SMAW qualifications. The tuition fee of $2,370 includes all materials and qualification testing. SMAW class will meet on Mondays, August 21 through November 27, from 8 am to 12:50 pm in Room 380, Scott Hall.

No experience is necessary for either of these courses, which provide entry-level job readiness training.
