Virginia State Police Investigating Fatal Crash In Rockbridge County   Rockbridge County, Va. (August 6, 2018) - Virginia State Police Trooper M. C. Forbes is investigating a motor vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Thursday (Aug 2) at 6:30 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 81at the 196.1 mile marker in Rockbridge County. A 2017 Freightliner tractor trailer was traveling south at a low rate of speed on Interstate 81 when it was struck in the rear by a 2019 Peterbilt tractor trailer, which was traveling the speed limit. Both tractor trailers then ran off the left side of the roadway, striking the guardrail. The 2017 Freightliner was driven by Del Cid Jose Amilcar Carcamo, 34, of Buena Park, CA. Mr. Carcamo was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. The 2019 Peterbilt was driven by Caleb Andrew Littlepage, 22, of Perry, FL. Mr. Littlepage was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to the hospital for injuries received in the crash. The passenger in the Peterbilt was identified as Cherone Bernard Thacker, 30, of Sanford, FL. Mr. Thacker was unrestrained in the sleeper (rear portion) of the truck and died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
