Life Support Classes Offered by DSLCC

Clifton Forge, VA (Sept. 6, 2018) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College is offering two two-day life support courses, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), this semester through its non-credit program. DSLCC Emergency Medical Services Program Head Jeanette Mann is the instructor for both courses, to be held in Rooms 417 and 422, Warren Hall, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus.

The goal of the PALS course, scheduled Thursday and Friday, October 11 & 12, from 8 am to 5 pm, is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. This course reinforces the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The tuition fee is $110.

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), scheduled Thursday and Friday, November 29 & 30, from 8 am to 5 pm, conforms to a set of clinical interventions for the urgent treatment of cardiac arrest, stroke and other life-threatening medical emergencies, as well as the knowledge and skills to deploy those interventions. The tuition fee is $110.
