Rev. Lynn Wright Returns to Preach for Ashwood UMC Homecoming

 
Hot Springs, VA (Sept. 24, 2018) - The Reverend Lynn Wright will return to Ashwood United Methodist Church to preach at its homecoming service on Sunday, October 7, 2018. The day will start with a hymn-sing and special music at 9:45 AM, followed by worship at 11:00 AM and a covered dish luncheon after worship. The public and especially past members of Ashwood UMC are warmly invited.

Wright began serving as a full-time United Methodist minister in 2007 when he was appointed to Ashwood UMC and Emory UMC of the Hot Springs Charge, beginning a pastorate that continued through 2014. During that time, he was instrumental in the formation of the Ashwood Food Pantry, a ministry that continues to serve the community.

Following his service with the Hot Springs Charge, Wright was appointed to Central UMC in Clifton Forge, Va., where he continues to serve. He is a member of the SWVA Chrysalis Board of Directors and the Eastern Alleghany Ministerial Association. He also serves as a volunteer chaplain at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital and is past chairman of the Staunton District Board of Mission Managers.

A native of the Alleghany Highlands, Wright worked at Grand Home Furnishing for 20 years and served as a lay supply speaker during that time. In 2005 he entered the UMC’s mentor program in preparation for Local Licensed Pastor training and graduated from the Duke School of Divinity Course of Study in 2012.

Wright and his wife, Michele Clifford Wright, reside in Valley Ridge. They have a son and daughter-in-law, Jarret and Ashley, and granddaughters Reagan and Kendra, who reside in Christiansburg, Va.
