Youth Risk Behavior Survey

Low Moor, VA (Sept. 24, 2018) - The Alleghany County Public Schools will be administering the Youth Risk Behavior Survey to students enrolled in grades eight, ten, and twelve. Alleghany High School students will be surveyed on November 7th and Clifton Middle School students will be surveyed November 12th. The survey results are anonymous, as students do not identify themselves on the response form.

This survey, created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is given periodically to students. Content covered within this survey include questions of healthy behaviors associated with violence, suicide, tobacco use, alcohol and drug use, sexual behavior, physical activity, bullying, and social behaviors. Results of the survey are used to plan programs and assist in securing funding for identified areas of need by the Alleghany County Public Schools, School Health Advisory Board, and the Community Services Board.

The survey is available for review at all of the Alleghany County Public Schools and the school division’s website at www.alleghany.k12.va.us. Any comments or suggestions should be directed to Fred Vaughan, Alleghany County Public School’s Director of Human Resources and Pupil Personnel by Friday, October 26, 2018.

Parents may opt students out of participation by contacting the school’s principal prior to the scheduled administration dates.
