DSLCC Scholarship Application OPEN; Workshops Available

 
Clifton Forge, VA (Jan. 15, 2019) - The DSLCC Educational Foundation is proud to announce the availability of over one hundred scholarship opportunities. The online scholarship application is currently open to all current and prospective DSLCC students, and the deadline to apply is February 25.

Two workshops open to the public will be held on the Clifton Forge campus as follows: Tuesday, January 22, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Warren Hall 409; Monday, February 4, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Warren Hall 409. Two additional workshops open to the public will be held at the Rockbridge Regional Center on Thursday, January 31, 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in room 907. The DSLCC Rockbridge Center is located at 35 Vista Links Drive, Buena Vista. Alleghany High School Workshop dates have been added for Friday, January 25 and Monday, February 4.

Several information sessions will be conducted at area schools to assist students with the scholarship application process. Sessions will be held on the following dates during school hours for high school students (please contact the Foundation or Guidance Office of the respective high school for time and location): James River High School – January 17, Bath County High School – January 18, Covington High School – January 23, Boys’ Home School – January 24, Rockbridge County High School – January 24, and Parry McCluer High School – February 7. A workshop at AHS is in the process of being scheduled.

Established as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Educational Foundation exists solely to support and promote Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. The Educational Foundation’s primary focus is to keep education affordable through the awarding of student scholarships and to provide students the support they need to achieve their goals. The Foundation also supports the college through the purchase of enhanced technology and classroom equipment and assists in funding innovative programming.

The Foundation awarded nearly $300,000 in scholarships to 125 students for the current academic year and anticipates similar awards for the upcoming academic year. All DSLCC students and prospective DSLCC students are welcome to apply, including graduating high school and homeschooled seniors, continuing DSLCC students, and non-traditional students (those who did not pursue college studies immediately following high school).
