International Quilter Donates Hand-made Quilt To Theatre
Item Will Be Used As A Fundraiser For The 'Heart Of The Community Campaign'

Clifton Forge, VA (Jan. 18, 2019) - International quilt designer, Kaye England, has donated a quilt she designed and pieced using a quilt fabric collection she also designed, to The Historic Masonic Theatre. The quilt, “English Pathways Medallion Quilt”, valued at $3200 will be used to raise money for The Heart of the Community Campaign. Quilt chances are being sold for a drawing to take place on March 1, with Kaye England present to draw the winning chance. The owner of the winning chance does not have to be present to win. The quilt is hanging on display in The Historic Masonic Theatre Annex and may be seen Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm.

Kaye began quilt making and fabric collecting in earnest in the early 1980’s, but was influenced early on by a family of needle workers. She now designs fabrics for Wilmington Prints and heads her own publishing company, Kaye England Publications. Kaye travels the world conducting sold-out lectures and workshops showcasing her beautiful fabrics, many of them reproduction fabric; patterns and quilts, as well as her unique and honest outlook on life. Kaye can also be seen on several episodes of HGTV’s Simply Quilts.

Despite a hectic teaching schedule, Kaye always finds time to quilt. She has written 13 books and produced popular feature length instructional DVD's using her Good Measure rulers, (formally known as Nifty Notions).

Kaye was born and raised on a farm in Glasgow, Kentucky. She now resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has two children, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Kaye has visited the Alleghany Highlands several times, lecturing for Alleghany Highlands Heritage Day & C&O Railroad Festival, teaching the “Quilt Winter Blues Away with Kaye Quilt Retreat” at The Historic Masonic Theatre in 2018. She will be returning in February to teach a requested second retreat.

English Pathways Medallion Quilt is named for the Kaye England designed fabric collection used in the quilt. English Pathways is a medallion-style quilt, utilizing many of the features seen in quilts from the 19th century. The design features a large medallion center, surrounded by rows of different techniques such as half square triangles, quarter square triangles and patches that are reminiscent of this time period. The corners of the center star are created with log cabin blocks replacing the frequently used half square triangles. The majestic floral patterns are ideal for cutting and piecing in this fashion and are additionally used in the pieced smaller stars at the top in order to elongate the quilt. Log Cabin blocks also complete the floral border corners, thus providing a beautiful English Pathways Medallion. English Pathways Medallion Quilt is 82” x 98”.

Quilt Chances are $5.00 for individual chance tickets or $25.00 for six chances. They may be purchased online at www.historicmasonictheatre.com, at the Theatre Box Office on 510 Main, from any Masonic Theatre Preservation Foundation Board member and at Lollie’s Quilt Shop, Livy’s Closet, Sew Many Quilts, Cakes Your Way, Upper Cuts and Club Car. All proceeds go to support The Historic Masonic Theatre.

Kaye said, “I love this beautiful Theatre and the fact that it is doing so much good for this community and I wanted to support it in a special way, by giving something of myself. I knew John Hillert well and was influenced by his optimism and hard work to make this Theatre dream come true. The entire community is so lucky to have this gem and should support it whenever possible”.
