Alleghany Co. School Board Personnel Actions Noted   Low Moor, VA (May 21, 2019) - At the conclusion of closed session at the Alleghany County School Board Office in Low Moor on May 20, 2019 the School Board took the following personnel action: Effective for the 2019-2020 school year the School Board appointed Thomas L. Dobbs as Principal at Sharon Elementary School. The School Board also approved Kate M. May as an Art Teacher at Alleghany High School. Three new teachers were approved at Mountain View Elementary School; Juliet W. Harris and Caroline L. Vincent as Elementary Teachers and Shaleana K. Matthews as a Special Education Teacher. Jessica S. Harmon was approved as a Teacher Assistant at Alleghany High School. The School Board also approved additional Summer School staff; Mallory P. Nicely, Winnett S. Whitaker, Lori A. Dressler, Melanie J. Schell, Tracie A. Buchanan, Patricia A. Shifflett, Kathy B. Brown, Alexis L. Honts, Dreama l. Woodard, Deborah M. Michie, Madison K. Carter, Katherine E. Spinks, Kristin L. Vass, Sheila C. Bates, and Deborah C. Fawcett. The School Board also approved Substitute Teachers and Teacher Assistants for the 2019-2020 school year as well as Extra-Curricular and Co-Curricular recommendations. (see attached lists) The Board accepted the June 30, 2019 resignations of Christine M. Arrington, Teacher at Mountain View Elementary School; Rachelle P. Nicely, Nurse Secretary; Kyle E. Kidwell, Agriculture Teacher at Alleghany High School; Pamela L. Dager, French Teacher at Alleghany High School; Christina C. Linsin, Library Media Teacher at Alleghany High School, and Michelle R. Reid, Social Studies Teacher at Alleghany High School. The School Board also accepted the June 30 retirements of Elisabeth G. Botkins, School Nurse at Clifton Middle School and Ann M. Woodward, Teacher Assistant at Mountain View Elementary School.
