Library Sponsors Summer Reading Program

Clifton Forge, VA (May 30, 2019) - The Clifton Forge Public Library will sponsor its annual Summer Reading Program from June 12 through July 31 for area children ages 3 through 12. Called “Summer Reading is Out of This World,” the theme will be Space.

Programs will be held on Wednesday between June 12 and July 31, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. However, there will be no program on July 3.

Unless otherwise advertised, programs will be held in the library’s Michael Armstrong Community Room.

Each program will include a story, crafts, and activities.

For each program, parents or legal guardians are asked to accompany their preschoolers and primary grade children.

The library encourages reading at all levels. Between June 12 and July 31, readers ages 3 to adult are encouraged to keep a log of books they have read, or that were read to them.

For children ages 3-18, prizes will be awarded for every five hours of reading. Additionally, they will receive an entry into a prize drawing for every five hours of reading.

There will also be prize drawings for adult readers, age 19 and older. For every ten books read, they will receive an entry into a prize drawing.

All reading logs must be turned in no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31.

Readers of all ages need to pick up a reading log at the Clifton Forge Public Library, located at 535 Church Street.

For information on any library program, contact the library at 863-2519.
