Jared Brown Appointed AHS Assistant Principal, Activities Director

 
Low Moor, VA (June 24, 2019) - The Alleghany County School Board has appointed Mr. Jared Brown to serve as the Assistant Principal / Activities Director at Alleghany High School effective July 1, 2019.

     When asked about his appointment Mr. Brown stated, “I am excited for this opportunity to join a school and community with such a rich tradition. I'm looking forward to working with staff members, administration, and parents to open as many doors as possible for our students.” 

Mr. Brown earned his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from James Madison University in 2018. He also double majored in Education and Pre-professional Biology from Concord University, all while playing football and working part-time. Mr. Brown has served as a coach in football, baseball, and track and field. In his most recent position, he has taught Math at Botetourt County Public Schools since 2015. Mr. Brown has been a member of the Leadership Team, the Crisis Prevention Team, a New Teacher Mentor, an Attendance Appeal Committee Member, a member of CORE Team (monitoring at-risk students), and also spent two years teaching alternative education.

     Dwayne Ross, principal of Alleghany High School stated, “I am ecstatic to have Mr. Brown join the Alleghany High School Family.  I have been more and more impressed each time I have had the chance to communicate with him, and I know he is going to do a great job.”

     “I am extremely excited that Mr. Brown will be joining our school division,” stated Gene Kotulka, Superintendent.  “His experience as a mathematics teacher and as a coach will be an asset as he transitions from the classroom to his new role as an assistant principal and activities director at Alleghany High School.”
