Virginia State Police Investigating Highland County Fatal Crash   Highland County, VA (July 4, 2019) - Virginia State Police C.A. Lightner is investigating a single vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Wednesday (July 3, 2019) at 10:57 p.m. on Route 220, one-half mile north of Route 642 in Highland County. A 2001 Ford F-150 was traveling north on Route 220 when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned into a small pond. The F-150 was driven by George Allen Hevener, 61, of Franklin, Va. Mr. Hevener was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
