Regional Bar Association Sets 'Senior Law Day' Aug. 14 At DSLCC

 
Clifton Forge, VA (August 7, 2019) - The Alleghany Bath Highland Bar Association is putting on a Senior Law Day (SLD) for seniors and their caregivers on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at the Moomaw Center at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Those who wish to attend should promptly call Bill Wilson, a member of the Bar, at 540-962-4529 to register.

     The event is free and there will be a free box lunch provided by Club Car in Clifton Forge. After the formal part of the program, the LewisGale Hospital Alleghany will provide free blood pressure and glucose (sugar) testing for those interested. There will be a table set up for registration. The hospital is also providing bottled water for the attendees.

     The sponsors for the event are: Alleghany Bath Highland Bar Association, WestRock, Highlands Community Bank, Modern Woodmen of America Chapter 11393, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, Kissito Health (Brian Center Health & Rehab Center), Jackson River Community Credit Union, Good News Church, Granbery Memorial UMC Outreach Committee, Temple Baptist Church, Loving Funeral Home, Arritt Funeral Home, Nicely Funeral Home, Chamber of Commerce, Covington Ruritan, and Huffman Insurance Agencies - Nationwide Insurance and Alleghany Printing.

     Assisting the Alleghany Bath Highland Bar with organizing the program were the following: William T. Wilson, Pastor Sung Yoo, Rev. Johnnie Mize, Rev. Nathan Miller, Pastor Steve Noel, Pastor Doug Hollenbeck, Rev. Bill Hartsfield, Patrice Jefferson, Jeanne Hepler, Shaun Mabry, Ann Gardner and Rachael Thompson.

     Bill Wilson, who will moderate the panel of speakers for the program, said "This is a wonderful program for seniors and their caregivers. It is not designed to give indepth information to seniors but to give them general information about issues they, or their caregivers, may face as they get older." This program was started by the Alleghany Bath Highland Bar back about 2003 and was later adopted by the Virginia State Bar. Since then similar programs have been conducted all over Virginia.
