Covington Council Sets Called Meeting, Work Session Nov. 5, 2019

 
Covington, VA (Oct. 31, 2019) - There will be a Called Meeting of the Council for the City of Covington TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2019 AT 6:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers of City Hall located at 333 W. Locust Street, Covington, Virginia. The work session of Council to follow.

The purpose of said meeting is as follows:

1.     To hold a Public Hearing to consider an ordinance entitled “Ordinance to Designate an Economic Development Area Under a Joint Economic Development and Growth Sharing Agreement”

2.     To consider first reading of Ordinance O-19-11 regarding Designation of Economic Development Area Under a Joint Economic Development And Growth-Sharing Agreement

3.     To consider Appropriation Resolution R-19-61 regarding Wal-Mart Grant in the amount of $4,000 for the “Shop with a Cop” Program

4.     To do any and all things necessary and proper to accomplish the above.

1.     Cathy Kimberlin, Commissioner of the Revenue, regarding changes in filing requirements for tax relief for the elderly and disabled

2.     Police Chief Chris Smith regarding update on the radio dispatch system

3.     David Bryant, Director of Finance and HR, regarding the Safety Program

4.     Eric Tyree, Director of Development Services, regarding the list of surplus properties and the adoption of a resolution regarding the Hazard Mitigation Plan (R-19-62)

5.     Presentation by City Manager Krystal Onaitis regarding the results of the survey for the position of Police Chief

ITEMS FOR REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 12, 2019

1.     To consider an appointment to the Regional Commission

2.     To consider 3 appointments to the Alleghany Highlands EDC Board

3.     To consider second reading of Ordinance O-19-11 regarding the Joint Economic Development and Growth-Sharing Agreement

4.     To consider Appropriation Resolution R-19-58 regarding the Health Department in the amount of $3,365.67

5.     To consider Resolution R-19-62 regarding the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan
