Clifton Middle Wins Local Cheer Competition   Lexington, VA (Jan. 18, 2020) - The Clifton middle school cheer team took him first place at the Dominos Alcova Mortgage Cheer Classic this weekend. The team coached by Garlynda Haynes came out on top over other local competitors which included Lynburn Downing Middle School and Parry McCluer Middle School. The event included exhibitions from Southern Virginia University Cheer and Dance Teams, FAME Roanoke and Garlynda’s Fancy Feet School of Dance. This VHSL judged event packed the house with over 200 spectators. “We were very pleased and excited about this event. It was enjoyable for all for participated and those who came to watch. I am already looking forward to planning again next year,” said Lori Turner, event coordinator.“ Clifton Middle also took home the trophy for Best Stunts of the competition and won the Mascot Dance off.
