VHSL Delays Decision On Return To Fall Sports
Covington High School Will Resume Physical Fitness Sessions On July 13, 2020

Covington, VA (June 26, 2020) - Covington High School has given careful consideration to the guidelines and restrictions set forth by the Centers for Disease Control, the Virginia Department of Health, the Virginia Department of Education, and the National Federation of State High School Associations regarding the worldwide pandemic of the Novel Coronavirus, COVID-19. The governing body for Covington High School’s athletic programs, and all public high school athletic programs in the state of Virginia, is the Virginia High School League. This organization made the decision on June 25, 2020 to delay the decision on the return to fall sports and activities until further notice. At this time, Covington High School plans to resume physical fitness/conditioning sessions open to all student-athletes beginning on July 13, 2020. VHSL physical forms, concussion forms, and COVID-19 assumption of risk forms will be required before any student-athlete may participate in these conditioning sessions. More information will follow regarding the dates and times of these planned conditioning sessions.

The safety and well-being of all involved is the top priority of the Covington High School Athletic Department. Please note and understand that this is a fluid situation, and plans are subject to change at any point due to the rapidly changing data regarding the spread of COVID-19.

Covington High School is a member school of the Virginia High School League. All guidelines set forth by the VHSL and Sports Medicine Advisory Committee will be followed.
