(We are always thankful for Announcement Sunday to know that we have a pastor.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. -Jeremiah 29:11))

Clifton Forge, VA (June 29, 2020) - As we keep these words in mind, Central UMC can be certain that God has plans for us as we welcome a new pastor who arrived June 22, 2020.

Reverend Marion Sortore (sorter) and her husband, Jim Sortore, who is retired, are traveling from Fort Meade, Florida, where she has been serving as the pastor at Fort Meade First United Methodist Church. They are the parents of two adult children: Samantha Hernandez and Scott Sortore.

One story we have heard about her is that she and her husband took a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains and fell in love with the area and hoped one day to live there. After the trip, God continued opening doors, one after another until she found herself headed to Virginia to serve a church in that general area. It turns out that those doors will bring her to Central UMC where her first message will be July 5th.

Pastor Sortore has taught all grades in school and was a principal prior to changing careers to the ministry.
