Cov. Police Issue Carpenter Drive / Rte. 18 Traffic Alert   Covington, VA (Aug. 1, 2020) -Beginning Monday, August 3, 2020 all paved travel lanes on Carpenter Drive, when Road stabilization work will occur, will be closed. The only route through the immediate area is using the temporary gravel road which will require reduced speed and heavy construction traffic due to deliveries. Due to the reduced line of sight for personal use vehicles (non-commercial/industrial), other routes are strongly advised for safety. As a reminder, Rayon Bridge has a posted weight limit of 20 tons for small trucks and 32 tons for large trucks, and should only be used by personal use vehicles and lightweight work vehicles.
