Library Offers Free Continuing Education Through Universal Class

Clifton Forge, VA (Oct. 14, 2020) - Clifton Forge Public Library Director Mike Barnes is pleased to announce that the library is offering a new course of online study which will replace the Gale Courses. “The library will now offer online classes,” Mr. Barnes says, “through Universal Class which is provided through the Library of Virginia.”

Whether you are looking for general education classes, professional development, or personal enrichment courses, Universal Class offers hundreds of choices. The hours to complete each course as well as the Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) allotted for each course are listed. Many classes offer a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

The website for Universal Class states that it “is an adult learning community meant for adult learners. You must be at least 16 years old to use any Universal Class service. You must have parental permission to use Universal Class if you are under 18 years of age.”

Classes are offered in such areas as accounting, business, computer training, language arts, law, medical, real estate, special education, web development, writing skills, and more. Classes are also offered for Homeschooling as well as in Teacher Resources and Test Preparation.

To access the catalog of classes and to register for a class, go to the library’s webpage at cliftonforgelibrary.org. Scroll to Universal Class which is on the left side of the screen.

Universal Class is available to library members in good standing.

The courses are offered at no charge.

For further information, library staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The library is offering curbside service as well as welcoming patrons inside by appointment. Face masks are required and social distancing is observed. The library is located at 535 Church Street. Library staff may be reached at 863-2519.
