Couple Charged With Murder In Child's Death Here Port Republic Pair In Alleghany Regional Jail On $5,000 Bond |
| Covington, VA (Jan. 25, 2021) - The following charges have been handed down by an Alleghany County Grand Jury. These charges stem from an incident on 6/19/2020 when a two year-old child died from a gunshot wound at a campground at Lake Moomaw in Alleghany County.
Alleghany County Sheriff's Office Investigators worked with Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigations, U.S. Forest Service and the Alleghany County Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
Benjamin Jacobsen and Carrie Jacobsen, both of Port Republic, Virginia, have been charged with the following offenses and are currently in the Alleghany County Regional Jail on a $5000 bond. They were the parents of the child found dead at the scene.
