DSLCC Holds 3rd Segment Of 2021 Graduation Exercises

Clifton Forge, VA (May 15, 2021) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College held its third and final commencement exercise Saturday morning, bestowing degrees and certificates to the career and technical program graduates, and also recognizing students who completed FastForward training programs through DSLCC’s Workforce Solutions and Community Education division.

One of the highlights of today’s ceremony was the awarding of the Gary Lee Miller Outstanding Graduate Award to Brandy Mitchell of Lexington. Mitchell, who earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Management, is an active member of her community, serving as a Justice Ambassador for Prison Fellowship, a Sunday School teacher at Marlbrook Baptist Church, a member of the local PTO in Rockbridge County Schools, and My Father’s Hand Outreach program. Most recently, Mitchell led a grass roots effort to establish Educational Pods which have provided assistance to over 160 children in 11 locations during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

DSLCC hosted a combined commencement exercise and Pinning Ceremony Thursday evening for graduates of both the Associate Degree in Nursing and Practical Nursing Certificate programs. Graduates of the College’s transfer programs received their diplomas Friday night.
