Al Wittig Jazz Quartet Performs for Masonic Theatre Summer Music Series
Performance Set For Dean Underground

 
Clifton Forge, VA (May 19, 2021) - As part of the Historic Masonic Theatre’s Summer Music Series, the Al Wittig Jazz Quartet will perform on Friday, June 11, at 7:30pm in the Masonic Dean Underground. The Virginia-based Al Wittig Jazz Quartet performs a variety of styles of jazz music-- swing, smooth jazz, funk, Blues, Latin grooves, ballads, and original music. The quartet’s versatility includes delivering both contemporary jazz and classical easy listening standards.

Al Wittig has been performing jazz/pop/funk/Latin and original music for over 40 years. The Quartet’s music is exciting, entertaining, and thoughtful. Alto and tenor saxophones are featured and backed up by regional professionals and instrumental instructors--guitarist , John Conley; bassist, Jordan Ponzi; and drummer, Forrest Young.

Al Wittig has thirty-six years as a professional band leader, performer, composer, arranger and teacher.
Wittig also served twenty-six years as a non-commissioned officer in charge of jazz ensembles, music director, staff arranger and saxophonist with the U.S. Air Force.

He has led bands in jazz festival appearances in many parts of the world and has produced or co-produced four jazz CD’s for Air Force bands. In addition, he has arranged hundreds of works for concert band, jazz band combos, brass and woodwind quintets and pop/rock groups.

The Summer Music Series is sponsored by WestRock, Highlands Community Bank, Jack Masons Tavern and Brewery, Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, Tristan Puckett and Laurel Bradley and the John Hillert Family.

The Masonic Amphitheatre grounds will open at 6:00 pm for the 7:30 pm performance. Concessions and restrooms are available in the Theatre Underground. The Clifton Forge Rescue Squad’s world-famous hot dogs will be available as well. Tickets purchased the evening of the performance are sold at the Theatre Box Office at 510 Main Street. The Amphitheatre is located at 513 Church Street and vehicles may park on surrounding streets. All CDC guidelines will be observed. In case of inclement weather, the show will be moved into The Historic Masonic Theatre.
