Dear Editor,
The men and women of Curtis A Smith VFW Post 1033 conducted a moving remembrance of our veterans this year on Memorial Day. Never let us forget any of them. The Alleghany (Highlands) Journal was there to help us all the way. You and your staff did an outstanding job in your coverage and all the wonderful pictures that you posted on your Facebook page. We are proud of the men and women who belong to Post 1033 and appreciate your support.
I would also like to express many thanks to the Alleghany (Highlands) Journal for its coverage of the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism's Jackson River Scenic Trail Marathon on June 5th. Your staff was there from start to finish and covered all facets of the day. From the 400+ runners to the men and women who volunteered their time to make this event a tremendous success. Hats off to the Chamber and its members for a job well done under the leadership of Josh Taylor.
The pictures tell the story of two great events and two great successes. I was proud to be a part of both.

Sincerely,

Marian Paxton
