The former Jefferson Pools will be renamed "Warm Springs Pools" when renovations are completed.

The Omni Homestead Resort Resumes Plans to Restore and Reopen the Warm Springs Pools
Resort also announces name change for the historic structures

Hot Springs, VA (June 10, 2021) – The Omni Homestead Resort has announced plans to resume the restoration of the historic Warm Springs Pools, formerly the Jefferson Pools. Construction will begin later this summer with anticipated completion in 12-18 months. The Bath County Building, Planning and Zoning Committee approved the building permits for the work on June 10. The general contractor for the project will be announced in the coming weeks.

“We are very excited to get this project back on track and to once again have them known as the Warm Springs Pools,” said Mark Spadoni, managing director of The Omni Homestead Resort. “Jay, Ed, and the associates at 3North have done an incredible job of planning this project in a way that not only allows us to reopen the Pools but that maintains the character of these historic landmarks. We have great respect for what the Pools represent to this community and feel it is only right that we return to their original name.”

Details on the plans to restore and reopen the historic bathhouses were shared in February 2020 and work was scheduled to begin shortly thereafter. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 devastated the hospitality industry and forced Omni to delay the start of the project, which is estimated to cost $3 million.

The goal of the restoration is to preserve as much historic building fabric as possible.

“This is a board by board project,” added Spadoni. “The scope of work includes repairing the foundation of both bathhouses and the reception house as well as preserving and/or replacing in-kind the historic wood structure, windows, doors, siding and roofing.” Improvements to the parking area and upgrades to the restrooms are also part of the project.

“The Pools are an integral part of Bath County and Virginia history and we want to ensure that they continue to be for generations,” said Spadoni. “We are especially grateful for the groundwork laid by Gibson Worsham and the Bath Houses Advisory Board in compiling the Historic Structures Report. That document was an integral part of 3North’s planning process, providing valuable research and insights. We also appreciate the guidance provided by Julie Langan and the Department of Historic Resources. This has truly been a team effort and we are thankful for everyone’s support and patience.”
