YMCA Sets 'Senior Day' Event Here On Sept. 18, 2021   Low Moor, VA (Sept. 8, 2021) -Attention: Active and proactive seniors! The Alleghany Highlands YMCA is hosting Senior Day on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A number of games, activities, demonstrations and informational sessions will be held during this day-long event. “We've designed a special day just for our friends and family who are young at heart,” said Alleghany Highlands YMCA CEO Jennifer Unroe. “With a variety of classes, vendors and prizes, this is a day you won't want to miss.” Water aerobics and chair exercise classes will be offered along with games, including Bingo, with prizes being awarded. Health screenings along with seminars on nutrition and self-defense will also be conducted during the day. Morning events include a chair exercise class, a plant-based diet seminar, tips on self-defense and fall prevention. The afternoon calendar also includes fall prevention, the plant-based seminar and chair exercise, Bingo and shallow water aerobics. An assistant will be available in the Wellness Center throughout the day to provide information and assistance on the use of exercise machines. Various vendors will also be on-site during the day. Vendors include: Lewis Gale Hospital – Alleghany, providing blood pressure, blood sugar checks and mammogram scheduling; Shenandoah Tours, trips for seniors; Go-Ahead Tours, trips for seniors; Sunshine Tours, trips for seniors; American Cruise Lines, trips for seniors; Whimsical Ways Travel; Scott Hill Retirement Community, providing information on its Clifton Forge facilities.
