CANCELLED: AHS To Host Regional Wrestling Tourney Sat., Jan. 8, 2022   The Journal just received word that this event has been canceled for now... * * * Valley Ridge, VA (Jan. 4, 2021) - This Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at Alleghany High School, the public has the opportunity to watch a regional wrestling match with some pretty dedicated and talented athletes performing. The high schools participating will be: Fort Defiance, Harrisonburg, Pulaski Co., Radford, Page Co., Stuarts Draft, Buffalo Gap, Lord Botetourt, and Floyd Co. Each team will get five matches and the competition will last all day long. Interesting side note, Floyd Co. is coached by former Covington wrestler Steven Horn, and Page Co. is coached by former Alleghany wrestler Greg Martin. The day will feature a dozen or so wrestlers that are currently ranked in the state.
