Ingevity Corp. Makes Discovery Center Contribution   Covington, VA (Jan. 11, 2022) - On January 11, 2022, Dennis McHenry and Keith Moore of Ingevity Corporation visited the Alleghany Highlands Industrial Heritage and Technology Discovery Center located at 227 N. Maple Avenue in Covington. A substantial contribution was presented to Paul Linkenhoker, President/CEO of the Alleghany Historical Society, for use in the development of the Discovery Center. The organization has committed to support the Brown Bag and Hard Hat Capital Campaign at the Promoter Level and will develop an exhibit detailing the operations and products of the company.      Ingevity became an independent corporation when MeadWestvaco and RockTen merged to form WestRock. The company produces activated carbon which is recovered from the papermaking process and used in numerous applications to benefit the world’s environmental quality. With corporate headquarters in N. Charleston, SC, the company has 1850 employees. There are currently 194 working at its operations in Covington.      McHenry stressed the fact that the contribution was made on behalf of Ingevity’s employees and represents its commitment to the Alleghany Historical Society and the entire Alleghany Highlands. A number of past and present employees are members and volunteers with the Society.      The Discovery Center has been a five-year project of the Society and has received more than $2 million in grants, corporate and business contributions, and individual donations and is expected to open in the spring of 2022. A partial opening was held in December to allow individuals an opportunity to view the progress. Volunteer opportunities are available and annual memberships are only $25 for individuals and $40 for families (single household).      Tours of the Center by individuals and groups may be scheduled and there is meeting space available for small groups and organizations.
