GED Class Begins Jan. 24 at DSLCC

Clifton Forge, VA (Jan. 20, 2022) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College will host a GED Preparation class on Monday and Wednesday evenings on the Clifton Forge campus, starting January 24. The class will meet from 6 to 8:30 pm in Rooms 345 and 350 in Scott Hall with Denise Dudley as the instructor.

GED (General Educational Development) classes prepare students to sit for the four GED subject tests which, when passed, provide certification that the test taker has United States high school-level academic skills. It is an alternative to the US high school diploma. The four subject areas include math, social studies, science and reading and language arts.

A GED or high school diploma is a credential required for almost all job applications, says Tony Petrosky, who oversees GED classes for Region 5 Adult Education, which includes the Alleghany Highlands.

The classes are free and open to students 18 years of age and older.

To register online, go to www.regionfiveadulted.com/. For more information, contact Petrosky at the Covington School Board Office at (540) 965-1400, ext.4112, or email tpetrosky@covington.k12.va.us.
