Haynes Bond Is Set At $10,000 By Circuit Court Judge
By Jerry E. Clark

Covington, VA (Jan. 20, 2022) - At a bond hearing just concluded in Alleghany County Circuit Court, Judge Edward Stein set a bond of $10,000 (secured) in the case of Gavin Haynes of Covington.

Haynes has been charged with 31 sexually related felonies involving minors by the Virginia State Police after a lengthy investigation.

Haynes' attorney, Charles S. Moore, argued, among other things, that he was no flight risk.

Haynes' sister and uncle testified in the proceedings. Haynes also answered questions from both his attorney and the Commonwealth Attorney from the Alleghany Regional Jail via video link.

Among the conditions of the bond were that Haynes has no contact with any victim, no contact with any minor (other than family), he does not leave the state, and not enter the property of any school or recreation facility.

Prior to the judge's ruling, Commonwealth Attorney Ann Gardner reminded the judge that Haynes had violated the trust of minors at Alleghany High School and that the nature of his alleged crimes dealt with the most vulnerable members of society.
