In a world where all individuals deserve to celebrated for their uniqueness and spirit, this special dance stands out as a shining example of inclusion and joy for all area residents with special needs.
Last night's unforgettable event transformed the traditional prom experience into a heartfelt celebration, honoring every attendee. It all started at 3 p.m. when hair and make-up was done for promgoers. Then, at 5 p.m., dinner was served followed by a red carpet walk in which all attendees entered the room accompanied by applause from an eager crowd in attendance to celebrate their vivacious natures.
Afterwards, a DJ took charge of the music (David Crosier) and prom-goers danced the night away. Later, a special crowning ceremony was held where each attendee was crowned King or Queen of the "Glitz and Glamour" prom.
With dazzling decorations, lively music, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the prom not only highlighted the achievements of the incredible group, but also fostered a sense of community and belonging. Each year, the event ceases to fail at bringing together the Area 18 Special Olympic athletes, but all local members of the Special Needs community, joining athletes, families, volunteers, and supporters to create an unforgettable evening filled with music, laughter, and heartfelt moments they'll carry with them for years to come. | |
