Cars, Concerts, and One Memorable Proposal During 6th Annual 'Back the Blue' Car Show
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Covington, VA (June 22, 2025)— The 6th annual "Back the Blue" car show, sponsored by the Alleghany Cruisers, was held once again at the Jackson River Sports Complex —located at 870 W. Edgemont Drive in Covington— was a two-day event featuring two concerts, a car show, and an impromptu proposal!
Things kicked off on Friday, June 20, with the Grab Bag Band playing at the ampitheatre from 6 p.m.—9 p.m. What made the night even more special was when concert-goer Jeff Angel came to the front of the crowd, got down on one knee, and proposed to longtime girlfriend, Kathy Carter. She said yes!
Then, from 10 a.m.—4 p.m. on Saturday, the car show was held featuring dozens of unique cars. Additionally, there was face painting, several vendors, flashing police cars, a raffle, police and EMS displays, 50/50, cash drawings, dash plaques, goodie bags, a bouncy house for the kids, and plenty of door prizes.
On Saturday evening, the "Back the Blue Bash" finished things off at the ampitheatre with the Rock Bottom Band entertaining the crowd. They played hits like "Kryponite" by 3 Doors Down, "You May Be Right" by Billy Joel, and "Even Flow" by Pearl Jam.
