Nancy Thurston Rowan, age 80, of 3008 Winterberry Ave, Covington, Virginia died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor.

She was born November 24, 1939 in Selma, Virginia to the late Clyde W. Thurston and Allene Humphry Thurston.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Michael McElwee and her second husband, Leslie Clifford "Les" Rowan; a sister, Susan Clark Thurston; two brothers, Clyde "Dubbie" Thurston, Jr. and Charles Jackson "Jackie" Thurston.

She is survived by a daughter, Amanda McElwee Goodbar and husband, Freddie of Roanoke; three brothers, William "Bill" Thurston and wife, Reba of Martinsville, David W. Thurston and wife, Pam of Eagle Rock, Daniel "Danny" Thurston and wife, Deborah of Clifton Forge; a granddaughter, Aubrey Goodbar; four foster children that she raised; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes her body will cremated. No services are scheduled at this time.
