Obituary for Michael Wayne Ailstock Michael Wayne Ailstock
Covington Resident Was Well-Known Drummer

Michael Wayne Ailstock, age 52, of Covington, Virginia, and formerly of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at his family's residence in South Carolina.

Born February 8, 1967, he was the son of the late Claude and Betty Ailstock.

Mike was an exceptional musician and drummer. He lived merely to play music. He was affiliated with and established multiple bands during his lifetime including Breach a Peace, Rock Bottom, and Recording Artist Double Standard. He accompanied numerous other talented musicians throughout his career.

Besides his drums, his pride and joy was his daughter. He was an exceptional father who attended all her activities with a smile on his face and a Gatorade in his hand. Mike was tremendously proud of his baby girl.

He is survived by his wife, Sondra Ailstock; a daughter, Carry Ann Ailstock; two brothers, Larry Hodson and wife, Tonia, and Zebulon Ailstock and wife, Elisabeth; five nephews, Devin Hodson (my tattooed one), Frank Stuart, Austin Stuart, Kolby Hendricks, and Prestyn Ailstock; and three nieces, Melissa Hodson Stuart (His Heart), Savannah Ailstock, and Katie Hodson.

In keeping with his wishes, his body was cremated in South Carolina. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11 a.m. The service will be conducted at the Good News Church, 214 S. Lexington Avenue, Covington, Virginia. We welcome all friends, bandmates, and family to join us in the celebration of Mike's life.
