Obituary for Jerry Lewis Lindsay Jerry Lewis Lindsay
Longtime Homestead Groundskeeper Was Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church Member

Jerry Lewis Lindsay, 72, of Warm Springs, Virginia passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 surrounded by his family at his home.

He was born in Hot Springs, Vrginia on May 2, 1947, a son of the late James Wayne and Margaret (Carpenter) Lindsay.

On March 18, 1972 he married Sharon Duncan.

Jerry was a member of Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church. He started work at the young age of seven at Criser's Used Cars in Mitchelltown, washing cars and windows. He then spent 20-plus years working as a groundskeeper at The Homestead.

He enjoyed being home and time spent sitting on the front porch watching the world go round. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was being Paw-Paw and attending the sport events of his grandsons.

In addition to his wife of 47 years, Sharon, he is survived by his son, Steaven DeWayne Lindsay of Hot Springs; daughter, Cheryl Lindsay Milton and husband, Dan of Covington; two special grandsons, Ben and Zach Milton of Covington; two brothers, David Lindsay and wife, Nettie of Hot Springs, George Lindsay and wife, Gloria of Hot Springs; three sisters, Jeanette Plecker and husband, Buzz of Millboro, Reginia Hamilton and husband, Charlie of Hot Springs and Nancy Young and husband, Larry of Mt. Airy, NC; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Jimmy Lindsay.

A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. at Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 1, 2020 with pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
