Obituary for Harold Winford (Winnie) Spangler, Jr. Harold Winford (Winnie) Spangler, Jr.
Former C&O Signalman Was U. S. Army, National Guard Veteran

Harold Winford (Winnie) Spangler, Jr., age 70, of 521 Tremont Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday, January 27, 2020 at his residence.

He was born November 17, 1949 in Clifton Forge to the late Harold Winford Spangler, Sr. and Elise May Morris Ayers.

He was a signalman for Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, and served in the United States Army and National Guard. He was a member of the Burnside-Carpenter Post 4299 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Clifton Forge and the VFW Motorcycle Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Humphries, and his stepfather, Calvin Ayers.

He is survived a daughter, Amber Spangler and a son, Sherman Spangler and wife, Michaela, both of Clifton Forge; six grandchildren, Trevor Bunch, Deston Spangler, Gracie Spangler, Isabella Spangler, Brendon Spangler, and Amaura Spangler; and special family friends, Alex Saunders, Michael Harris, and Stan Nicely, Jr.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Barry Daniel, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Military rites will be conducted by members of the Burnside-Carpenter Post 4299 VFW.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
