Obituary for Brenard Rudolph Claytor of Glasgow Brenard Rudolph Claytor of Glasgow
U. S. Navy Korean War Veteran Was Former Rockbridge County School System Administratoro

Brenard Rudolph Claytor of Glasgow died on January 28, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1930 to Brenard Guy Claytor and Gracie Camden Claytor in the Buffalo Forge area of Rockbridge County.

Mr. Claytor has been married to Anita G. Claytor for the past 36 years. He has four sons: Mark Claytor (Em), Mac Claytor, Robin Claytor, and Bill Claytor (Kim), with nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Natural Bridge High School, he served in the United States Navy in the Korean War. Upon his return, Mr. Claytor obtained a bachelor's degree from Emory & Henry College and his master's degree from the University of Virginia. The next 30+ years were dedicated to teaching, but primarily as an administrator in the Rockbridge County School System.

In addition, he served within various civic organizations in the community including the Rockbridge County School Board.

In his retirement, he loved nothing more than watching the birds and wildlife on his beloved "Gobbler’s Knob", chewing tobacco while driving his UTV up the hollow and hanging out in the barn with the horses.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, family, friends, horses and his beloved Labrador retriever, Nestle.

Family night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by Pastor Hunter Phillips. A brief graveside service will be afterwards at Falling Spring Cemetery.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers to please donate to the charity of your choice in honor of Mr. Claytor.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
