Clifton Forge Native Was U. S. Army Vietnam War Veteran

Robert Leon (Buddy) Persinger, age 74, of 72 Longview Drive, Bacova, Virginia passed Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.

Buddy was born July 28, 1945 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Earnest Massie "Mac" Persinger and Laura Evelyn Curtis Persinger.

He served in the United States Army during two tours in the Vietnam war. He was a skilled laborer and jack-of-all-trades throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Paula Anita Winebriner Persinger; a son, Earnest Persinger; two brothers, Billy and Benny Persinger; a grandson, Alex Dressler; and a great granddaughter, Hopeless Dunbar.

He is survived by two daughters, Belinda Wilfong and Malinda Hague; a sister, Barbara Stinnett; three grandchildren, Dennis Wilfong, Kyleigh Booze, and Hope Dressler; a number of nieces and nephews; a number of great grandchildren; and his canine companions, "The Kids". The family would like to thank the entire team of caregivers at the VA Medical Center.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. There will be no services at this time.
