Mr. David Carl Thompson, Sr., age 50, of Covington, Virginia died Saturday, February 1, 2020 at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem.

Mr. Thompson was born October 11, 1969 in Alleghany County, the son of James Lawrence Thompson, Jr. and Brenda Fridley Thompson.

During his working career, he was employed as a truck driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Most of all, David enjoyed "hanging out" with his sons.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his four sons, David Thompson Jr., of Clifton Forge, Austin Thompson and Adam Thompson, both of Covington, and Aaron Thompson of Low Moor, two grandchildren, Grayson Thompson and Rowen Thompson; two brothers, James Thompson, III of Summerville, SC, and Chris Thompson of Covington, a sister, Kimberly Thompson of North Carolina, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Edith Snedegar officiating. The family will receive tfriends Friday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.

The interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
