Obituary for Teresa Carter McCoy Teresa Carter McCoy
Clifton Forge Native Dies At Age 49

Teresa Carter McCoy (TC), 49, of Lexington, Virginia gained her angel wings and went to be with our Lord after a hard fought battle following her car accident last year.

She passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.

She was born on April 9, 1970 in Clifton Forge, the daughter of Peggy Deisher Carter and the late Edwin B. Carter III.

Teresa is survived by her husband of 22 years, Jeffery "Love" McCoy; precious daughter, Jaden McCoy; loving mother, Peggy Carter; brothers, Joey Carter and Edwin B. Carter IV; her niece, Kalyn and Jesse O'Conner; nephew, Christian Carter; niece, Aryal Allie; nephew, Dakota Vaughan; nephew, Jamison Ferguson; her father and mother-in-law, Doug and Pat Scott; sisters-in-law, Stephanie and Matt Vaughan, Shannan Ferguson, and Debbie Carter; her fur baby, Phoebe, and a large circle of cousins, special friends, and her village of support.

T. C. was someone who made the world a better place. She was an immediate friend to everyone she met. She touched the lives of her entire community through endless service and dedication to local area sports, schools, and other organizations. She never worked a day in her life because she had a passion for caring for all the fur babies she groomed. She truly loved them all.

Some of her favorite things include camping with the salty life crew, singing every word to every song ever written, beach vacations filled with sunshine and family, and all things Christmas. What she loved she loved fiercely and passionately. Above all, she lived every day for her beautiful daughter that was the light of her life and for her best friend, Jeff, the love of her life.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, February 19 at Harrison Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 20 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of First Christian Church in Covington with the Rev. Bill Gilliand officiating. Interment will follow at Carter Family Cemetery on Gravel Ridge Road.

Paul bearers include Joey Carter, E. B. Carter, Jesse O'Conner, Christian Carter, Stevie Underwood, Dana Long, Ray Williams and Grady Mullinax.

She will be forever missed by her loving family and those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to an event near and dear to TC's heart, the 2020 Rockbridge High School After Prom Party. Please make checks payable to RCHS PTSA and send to Kimberly Hines at 197 S. Buffalo Road, Lexington, VA 24450.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
