Shirley Ellen Huffman, 61, of Monterey, Virginia passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at The Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs.

She was born May 8, 1958 in Monterey, a daughter to the late Jacob Andrew and Hilda Irene (Hiner) Huffman.

Shirley enjoyed drawing, painting and had beautiful penmanship. She loved animals, especially her dogs and collecting coins from around the world.

Even though she was a private person, Shirley did enjoy visiting with the community in Monterey and going to community fundraisers.

The last member of her immediate family, she is survived by two aunts, Avernell "Bebe" Hiner of Monterey and Carolyn Hiner of Houston, Texas; as well as a great number of cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Huffman.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Beulah Presbyterian Church with the Revs. C. William "Bill" Cox and Rick Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Monterey Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Allen and Brad Lowry, J. D and Caleb Hiner, Vernon and Richard Simmons and Pat Lowry. Honorary pallbearers will be friends in attendance.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
