Homemaker Was Very Active In The Central United Methodist Church

Frances Viola Ragland Mays, age 83, of 108 Howard Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Highland House, Clifton Forge.

She was born March 10, 1936 in Warminster, Virginia to the late Joseph Russell Ragland and Beulah Viola Fitzgerald Ragland.

She was a homemaker throughout her life.

She was member of Central United Methodist Church where she served on the Church Board, the Kitchen Committee and was a member of the Renee Women Fellowship.

Frances loved spending time with her granddaughter, great granddaughter, and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Elwood Mays; a sister, Shirley Wallace; two brothers, Kenneth and Sonny Ragland.

She is survived by a daughter, Vicki Price and husband, Gary of Clifton Forge; a sister, Patricia Ragland of Arlington; three brothers, Raymond Ragland, William Ragland and wife, Joan, all of Amherst; Ronald Ragland and wife, Jacqui of Bethel, NC; a brother in law, Tommy Wallace of Lexington; a granddaughter, Tiffany Gutshall and husband, Coleman of Hickory, NC; a great granddaughter, Madeline Gutshall; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Lynn Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service and following the service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Central United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 16, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
