Obituary for Lorenzo Ross Lorenzo Ross
Covington Native Was U. S. Air Force Veteran, Hercules Employee

Lorenzo Ross, 84, of 106 East Prospect Street, Covington, Virginia died Monday, March 23, 2020 at the Springtree Health and Rehabilitation Center in Roanoke.

Mr. Ross was born June 11, 1935 in Covington, a son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Beverly Ross.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jackson Ross in 2004; one sister, Hortense Spencer; eight brothers, Walter Ross, Clifford Ross, Pearson Ross, Raleigh Ross, Rotha Ross, Theodore Ross, Hawthorne Ross and Lynn Ross.

He was a 1954 graduate of Watson High School and enlisted in the U. S. Air Force, retiring after 23 years in 1977.

He was employed for 17 years at Siemers Automotive in Newport News and was a former employee of Hercules, Inc. in Covington.

He was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church and a member of the Male Chorus of the church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an excellent cook and loved all sports.

Surviving are his daughter, Lola Ross of Durham, NC; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donnell and Carla Ross of Lithonia, GA; Jeffery and Julie Ross of Lynchburg and Dale and Tanya Ross of Fort Worth, TX; eight grandchildren, Aaron (Chieko) Ross, Derek Ross, Marcus Twitty, Tia Ross, Fedna Da Silva, Keenan Ross, Makayla Ross, Hope Ross and Faith Ross; three great grandchildren, Aiyana Vaughn, Adam Ross and Alicia Ross; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Ross of Washington, DC; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins including Yolanda Osborne and her husband, Don, and Peter Spencer and several special friends including Charlotte Jackson of Miami, FL, and Gloria Tripplet and James Lee Barber of Covington.

In keeping with the guidelines of the current Corona virus pandemic, a private graveside service will be held Friday, March 27, 2020 in Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. R. D. Jenkins Sr. officiating.
