Obituary for Susan (Sue) Marie Gervasio Susan (Sue) Marie Gervasio
Rockbridge Baths Resident Dies At AGae 45

Susan (Sue) Marie Gervasio, age 45, passed away with her loving husband, Alvis Reynolds, and adoring family by her side in the early morning hours of March 25, 2020 at their home in Lexington, Virginia after a courageous battle with cancer.

Susie, as called by her family, was born on August 20, 1974, in Providence, R.I. to Nancy (Bowen) and Robert Gervasio.

The family moved to New York and New Jersey, finally settling in Harleysville, Pa. in 1985 where Sue spent most of her adolescence and graduated from Souderton Area High School in 1992.

A few years after having her beloved daughter, Taylor, her family moved to Rockbridge Baths in 1995 where they enjoyed life on a farm that was filled with animals, acres and joy. Sue's fun-loving personality quickly found her many friends in her new home state. She was actively involved in her daughter's school and community.

After taking a job as a bartender at the Southern Inn in Lexington, she met her forever companion, Alvis. They were married in September 2001. Sue and Alvis were truly partners in life who enjoyed each other's company immensely. In 2008, they grew their family through the adoption of two spirited boys, Chase and Carlos. This addition, along with Taylor, completed the family they had worked so hard to build. Sue, known as Mama Sue by all of her children's friends, was an exceptional fun-loving mother whose focus was always on her family's happiness.

Besides spending fun filled times with family and friends, Sue had a passion for traveling, cooking, anything outdoors, caring for and rescuing animals, and being a mom and wife. She made many fond memories fishing off the pier in Oak Island, N.C., kayaking the Maury River, hiking the McAfee Knob trail with her children, relaxing on the best beaches, and enjoying lazy summer afternoons by the pool. Her warm heart, infectious laugh, and caring personality will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Sue is survived by her parents, Nancy and Robert Gervasio; husband, Alvis Reynolds; three children, Taylor Gervasio Riccardi and fiance Brian Crosby, Chase Reynolds and Carlos Reynolds; brother, Christopher Gervasio and wife Debbie, their children Kourtney Gervasio and Cody Martin; stepdaughters, Katen and Elizabeth Reynolds; and numerous close friends and loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made online to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450 or SmileTrain.org or by mail to Smile Train, P. O. Box 96231, Washington, D.C. 20090-6231.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
