Obituary for Stewart E. Grotz Stewart E. Grotz
Selma Native Was World War II Veteran

Stewart E. Grotz, age 94, of Cumming, GA, formerly of Somerset, NJ, passed away at home in Cumming, Georgia on April 4, 2020.

Stewart was born on August 26, 1925 in Selma, Virginia.

He is the son of the late John Bollis Grotz and the late Lucia B. McDonald Grotz.

After serving honorably in World War II, Stewart earned a bachelor's degree in English at Roanoke College. He entered the insurance industry and worked happily until age 72. His hobbies were photography and playing card games and solving puzzles on-line daily.

Stewart is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ildiko Mezey.

Surviving are his children with his late first wife, Dorothy J. Grotz: son, Geoffrey and his wife, Antoinette of Hillsborough, NJ; daughters, Lee and her husband, Robert Vail of Califon NJ; Diane and her husband, William Mingin of North Brunswick, NJ; and Amy Grotz-Weber of Cliffwood Beach NJ. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jonathan, Kimberly, Amanda, Brielle, Dylan, Gwyndolin, Anna, and Kirsten, and his great grandchildren, Jude, Caden and Emma.

Stewart will be cremated privately at the Southcare Cremation & Funeral Society, Marietta, GA. After the restrictions due to the covid-19 are lifted, his memorial service will be held in New Jersey and he will be buried at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton GA.
