Obituary for Alice Carroll Jordan Alice Carroll Jordan
Alleghany County Native Was "Mother" Of The Wrightsville Baptist Church

Alice Carroll Jordan, 89, 706 Madison Avenue, Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

Mrs. Jordan was born June 14, 1930 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late James Carroll and Catherine Harvey Carroll Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Jordan, Sr. in 1992; two daughters, Maria Ellis and Brenda Jordan, and also by four brothers and one sister.

She retired from the U.S. Forest Service and was a longtime member and the Mother of Wrightsville Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Club, the Kitchen Committee and the Adult Choir.

Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth Jordan of Bassett, Ann Jordan of Hot Springs and Nancy Jordan of Covington; three sons, Oliver Jordan, Jr. and his wife, Romania of Clifton Forge, Jonathan Jordan and James Jordan, both of Covington; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, the Sunset Drive Community in Bassett and the Manns and Myers families in Rocky Mount.

In keeping with the guidelines of the current pandemic crisis, a private graveside service will be held Monday, April 13, 2020 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jerome Basham officiating.

The family suggests that memorial donations in Alice's name be made to the Wrightsville Baptist Church, Wrightsville, Covington, VA 24426.
