Zena Zampini Jurand, 92, of Raphine, Virginia passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2020.

Zena was born on February 22, 1928 in Esanatoglia, Italy, the daughter of Alessandro Zampini and Rosa Cordovani Zampini.

Zena married Walter Jurand, a Polish Army officer, in her village of Esanatoglia in June 1946. She and Walter immigrated to England and lived in various locations for the next six years. Her two sons, George and Henry, were born in Wales and Scotland, respectively.

In 1952, she and her family emigrated to America, where they settled in Cleveland, Ohio. She became a naturalized citizen in 1957.

She and Walter were truly part of the Greatest Generation. They worked hard at many varied occupations, often working different shifts while raising two sons. They retired to Florida in 1979. After Walter's passing in 2006, she moved to Raphine where she lived with her son George until moving into assisted living in November 2019.

Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family. Her smile could light up a room.

Zena was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and her two brothers, Giulio and Luigi.

She is survived by her two sons, George and Henry, as well as six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Zena's life will be planned for a later date.
