Obituary for Carl Wilson Hull Carl Wilson Hull
Accomplished Welder, Mechanic, Was Highland County Resident

The sun set upon Carl Wilson Hull, 84, of Blue Grass, Virginia on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, surrounded by his granddaughters, at the home of his son.

The sun rose upon his life on September 1, 1935, a son of the late Clyde Huyler and Mary Grace (Puffenbarger) Hull.

An accomplished welder and mechanic, Carl opened and ran Hull's Shop with his son in Blue Grass until his retirement.

He will be remembered within his community as the person who could "fix anything" on a whim, especially during Highland's haymaking season. Carl was also known for his excavating skills, digging many foundations, ponds, ditches and graves.

He loved time spent at his cabin on Allegheny Mountain, where he would hunt, entertain family and simply sleep in his chair. Above all, he will be remembered as "a man of many trades, a hard worker, a storyteller, a wonderful man and most of all an amazing grandad."

Carl is survived by his son, Patrick "Pat" Hull and wife, Treva (Hicks) of Forks of Water; three granddaughters and their husbands, Ashley and Jesse Propst of Blue Grass, Hannah and Vincent Murray of Vanderpool and Cynthia and Elliott Boyd, of Forks of Water; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Propst, Jacob and Scott Murray, and Thomas and Madalyn Boyd; brother, Eugene "Gene" Hull and wife, Elizabeth "Liz" of Goshen; niece, Dana Howard and husband, Mark of Staunton; nephew, Stephen Hull and wife, Heather of Churchville; as well as his very special caregiver, Edie Harper and her family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Ann (Colaw) Hull, who passed June 10, 1993.

Taking governmental recommendations into consideration the family will hold a private burial at his home place in Blue Grass.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Grass Cemetery, 3042 Blue Grass Valley Road, Blue Grass, Va. 24413.
