Obituary for Hollis Leon Dressler Hollis Leon Dressler
Covington Resident Was Virginia Tech Graduate, Former Head Groundskeeper At DSLCC

Mr. Hollis Leon Dressler of 521 E. Burks Street, Covington, Virginia passed peacefully in his home on April 17, 2020 with his entire family by his side.

He was born November 23, 1934 in Covington to the late Charles E. Dressler, Sr. and Della Myers Dressler.

Hollis was a graduate of Virginia Tech and was a well-known horticulturist in the Highlands.

In addition to making the Highlands a greener place to be, he spent his professional career working at White Sulphur Springs Nursery and eventually retiring as head groundskeeper at DSLCC.

Mr. Dressler also kept a lot of fisherman happy during his bait-catching days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, E. C. Dressler and a daughter-in-law, Jackie.

Mr. Dressler is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Amelia; sons, Allen (Machelle), W.L. (Tina), Steve (Sharon), Neal (Tina); brother, C.E. Dressler, Jr. (Margaret); grandchildren, Beth (Jay), Kenny (Alyssa), Levi, Lexi, Derek, Tyler, Colton (Burke), Kendra ; great grandchildren, Gabe, Gabi and a number of nieces and nephews.

Hollis was a lifetime member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Dressler's greatest joy in life was watching his sons and grandchildren play organized sports and his proudest moment was witnessing his four sons graduate from Virginia Tech. He followed the Red Sox, Celtics, Redskins and Hokies. Hollis enjoyed fishing and working in his yard.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. W. Pembroke Hall officiating.

Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 521 E. Burks Street, Covington at any time.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of donations to Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
