Obituary for Leonard (Wee) Garwood Link Leonard (Wee) Garwood Link
Former HVAC Tech At Rockbridge Farmers Co-Op Was Talented Barrel Racer, Lifelong Farmer

Leonard (Wee) Garwood Link, 74, of Lexington, Virginia passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Link; brother, Howard "Buck" Link; and brother-in-law, Andy Hickman.

Leonard was a fierce competitor, a talented and prize-winning barrel racer who could make his ride through the ring look like a seamless dance between rider and horse. He raised and trained quarter horses to continue his love of the sport for future generations.

In addition to working as an HVAC Tech at the Rockbridge Farmers Co-Op for many years, he was a lifelong farmer. He could grow anything and was known by many not only for his green thumb but also his generosity. He was always willing to share the bounty of his crop with others.

Leonard was a pistol and tough as nails, but beneath that steel exterior was kindness and he was loved by so many. He was a member of the Ben Salem Church and had accepted the Lord into his heart in a river baptism along side his beloved granddaughter, Chloe.

In the last couple of years, he took on a new role as a loving and dedicated caregiver to his ailing wife. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Link; daughter, Laurie Ann Link-Wines and husband, Gregory; son, Chris Link and wife, Carman; granddaughter, Chloe wines and boyfriend, Stephen; three step-grandchildren (who called him bear), Jordan, Same and Blake; sister, Arlene Hickman; numerous special nieces and nephews; best friend, Curtis Tyree; and many special friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc., P. O. Box 979, Lexington VA 24450.

A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.

Online condolences may be made at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com or 540-254-3000.
