Obituary for Ryland Bertrand Brisendine Ryland Bertrand Brisendine
WestRock Retiree Was First Christian Church Member

Ryland Bertrand Brisendine, 80, died April 25, 2020 at his home in Covington, Virginia.

He was born July 21, 1939, the son of the late George Lewis Brisendine and Mary Smith Brisendine.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed 46 years by WestRock in Covington.

He was a member of First Christian Church and served in the Army National Guard.

Ryland was above all a devoted husband and father, and loved his country. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, country music, hot cars and Harley Davidson, travel at home and abroad, and cats.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois Hanks Brisendine; children, Debra (Marco) and Neil; sister, Phyllis McAllister (James); and cat, Lucy.

He was recently preceded in death by his beloved cat, Ozzie.

The family extends special thanks to Dianna and the late Richard Taylor, Bill Gilliland, James McAllister, and the Deem family for their support.

There will be a private service at Loving Funeral Home on April 28, 2020 with Preacher Bill Gilliland officiating.

Entombment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park.

Family and friends may pay their respects at Loving Funeral Home on Monday, April 27, 2020 during normal business hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church at 231 E Fudge St,, Covington, VA 24426; the Alleghany Humane Society at 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24426; or Mountain Regional Hospice at P. O. Box 673, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
