Greenbrier County Native Dies At Age 83

Rachel Louise Bennett Mines, 83, of Caldwell, WV passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at her home following an extended illness.

Born April 18, 1936 in Greenbrier County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Darie Dahmer Bennett.

Rachel had attended Rhema Christian Center and was a former member of the Senior Friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Leonard Don Mines; grandson, Matthew Crane; sisters, Ernestine Morgan, Elizabeth Bennett; brothers, Donald Bennett and Ronald Bennett.

Survivors include three daughters, Leta Morgan (Greg) of Neola, WV, Reta Crane (Tim) of New Castle, VA and Teresa Mines of Caldwell, WV; brother, James "Buck" Bennett (Evelyn) of Ronceverte, WV; sisters, Sue Honaker (A.J.) of Caldwell, WV, Delores Dowdy of Lewisburg, WV, Aretha Dowdy of Caldwell, WV, Theda Mae Hoke (Edward) of Lewisburg, WV and Genevieve Bennett Wiley (Joe) of Ronceverte, WV; grandchildren, Sarah Morgan, Josh Morgan, Jeremiah Morgan and Amy Crane; great grandchildren, Adrienne and Jackson Morgan, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at the Adwell Cemetery, Ronceverte, WV with Pastor Stewart Farley and Pastor Hat Defibaugh officiating.
